Message from the Irish Pony Club Tetrathlon Chairman
"The Irish Pony Club Minimus and Tetrathlon championships are due to take place in June and August respectively. We are carefully monitoring the guidelines and updates from the Department of Health. If the restrictions applied by the Government are lifted, it is our intention to hold these championships on their original dates. However, if it is not possible to hold these competitions on their scheduled dates, every effort will be made to re-schedule the championships for later in the year.
In the UK, the Junior International planned for the June Bank Holiday weekend has been cancelled. Similarly, the UK Minimus International scheduled for the 27th of June has also been cancelled. The organisers of both competitions are working to arrange competition dates for later in the year. We still intend to send Irish teams to the UK for these competitions and the UK Senior Regional Tetrathlon in Mid August, if the Coronavirus Covid-19 restrictions allow us to do so and if the competitions take place.
I would encourage all members with an interest in Minimus and Tetrathlon to continue their training, on their own, while adhering to the guidelines and restrictions announced by the Department of Health. Physical activity outside is very important during these strange times. Set small achievable goals for each day. Keep running and riding in a safe environment and look forward to the day when we can gather once again. If you have a safe environment to practice your shooting skills, then this is another great option.
The Sport Ireland Facebook page has some excellent suggestions from around the country, for individual and family workouts and games to keep both the body and mind healthy.
Respect these restrictions now, to ensure that we can gradually return to normality in the weeks and months to come.
Our strongest defense in this battle with Covid-19 is to keep our distance and wash your hands. The most important thing now is to take care of your health and the health of your families so that later this year, we can all enjoy our Irish Pony Club championships together.
Keep positive, stay safe and keep sharing all of your ideas for surviving this challenging period."
John Flood, Irish Pony Club Tetrathlon Chairman
