Minimus heading

Minimus is a 2-day competition consisting of three disciplines, swimming, running and riding. Points are awarded to competitors for their performance in each discipline. The overall winner is the competitor with the most points after all three disciplines. Participants must be U-12 on the 1st of January of the current year. However, new older Pony Club members may participate Hors Concours to gain valuable competition experience. Irish Pony Club D+ test standard is recommended for this competition.
The Minimus Championships are a team competition where members from branches form a team of three/four for the competition. Individual trophies are awarded to boys and girls for the best overall winners and the best in the disciplines of running and swimming.

The first ever National Novice Triathlon 80 competition takes place this Bank Holiday Monday (4th June) at Mahers, Killough, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and Thurles Leisure Centre.

Golden Vale Hunt Branch will this year host the inaugural running of the 2018 national novice minimus competition.  Open to all members of the Irish Pony Club, under 23 years of age, this is an opportunity for all IPC members to compete at a championship level across the three disciplines of cross country riding, running and swimming.  Golden Vale have a superb day planned for everyone who competes, with prizes and championship level competition.  Are you preparing and training for the Holmestead Saddlery National Minimus Championships in Punchestown?  Keep reading!

Golden Vale have set out to build on the experience that they gained in 2017 when they hosted their first fun minimus and tetrathlon training day.  This year they have increased the level of difficulty on their course to create a championship level cross country course.  The Branch have worked extremely hard in recent weeks to create and prepare a fantastic, interesting and challenging minimus course.  This will be the best built minimus course available, for all of you training for the Holmestead Saddlery National Minimus Championships.  This minimus course will be up to the height of 80cm with some technical twist and turns.  Don't miss out on a great opportunity to get in some championship level cross country practice before the National Minimus Championships.

Located on the banks of the River Suir in Thurles, Thurles Leisure Centre will provide the venue for the swimming phase of the competition.  A perfect venue for the ideal warm up competition in the final weeks before this years Minimus.  Finally, the running phase will also take place at Mahers, Killough, in the heart of the Tipperary countryside.

We would like to wish the very best of luck to Golden Vale Hunt Branch as they begin their final preparations for Monday's competition.  Remember, entries will close on Thursday 31st May at 6pm through the Golden Vale Hunt Branch Its Plain Sailing page.  Places are limited so don't leave it till the last minute to enter.  This is an opportunity not to be missed!
