PONY CLUB Dressage

Dressage is the highest expression of training where horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements. it develops obedience, flexibility and balance in the horse, and is therefore the basis for all other equestrian disciplines. The ‘Pure dressage’ competition is for teams of three/four riders of any age, who ride a Novice level test in a 60m long arena.

Irish Pony Club National Dressage Day Rescheduled

The organisers of the Irish Pony Club National Dressage Day have agreed that this should be re-scheduled to Saturday 17th October 2020 at Spruce Lodge, due to the ongoing Coronavirus Covid-19 situation.

The Dressage tests for Combined Training and Pure Dressage which will be used for the Dressage Day are on the IPC website, linked from the 'Dressage' tab under the 'Activities' menu on the Home page. The tests for the Dressage Day will also include some of the other tests on the website, details TBC.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue to practice your flatwork at home; you can also use the online dressage test judging facilities pasted below to get feedback to help you improve!

National Dressage Day 2020 - Cancelled

NATIONAL DRESSAGE DAY ANNOUNCEMENT

The chairman of the Dressage and Combined Training sub-committee, Kate Harvey, and co-organiser Marie Hennessy are very sorry to have to announce that the National Dressage Day scheduled for Saturday 17th October at Spruce Lodge, Co Wicklow cannot now go ahead.

The Government's introduction of Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions for the whole country from today, for at least 3 weeks, mean that travel outside one's county and outdoor sporting events for more than 15 people are not permitted, so we have no alternative but to cancel.

We plan to reschedule this competition for the Saturday 1st May (the May Bank Holiday weekend), and would like to encourage all those disappointed this year to work hard at improving their dressage so that they and their ponies can come back in even better form in 2021!
