PONY CLUB Dressage

Dressage is the highest expression of training where horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements. it develops obedience, flexibility and balance in the horse, and is therefore the basis for all other equestrian disciplines. The ‘Pure dressage’ competition is for teams of three/four riders of any age, who ride a Novice level test in a 60m long arena.

The Dressage and Combined Training committee have made the decision to postpone this clinic until further notice.

The Irish Pony Club Dressage and Combined Training Committee are delighted to announce that they will hold a Dressage and Show Jumping Clinic on Wednesday 15th April 2020 at Tipperary Equestrian Centre.  Sue Smallman (BHS Level 3 Coach and High Performance Pony Eventing Team Dressage Coach) and Paddy O’Donnell (International Show Jumper and HSI Level 2 Coach) will provide the instruction for this clinic.

All are welcome to apply for this clinic.  However, depending on the interest and availability of places, priority will be given to intermediate and open level riders who intend to compete in combined training at the IPC Area Qualifiers this year.

An Expression of Interest Application Form is now open on the Irish Pony Club Its Plain Sailing page.  All registered Irish Pony Club members are welcome to register their interest in attending the clinic.  However, if there are more interested parties than the number of places available, a waiting list will be created.

The cost for this clinic will be €60.

National Dressage Day 2020 - Cancelled

NATIONAL DRESSAGE DAY ANNOUNCEMENT

The chairman of the Dressage and Combined Training sub-committee, Kate Harvey, and co-organiser Marie Hennessy are very sorry to have to announce that the National Dressage Day scheduled for Saturday 17th October at Spruce Lodge, Co Wicklow cannot now go ahead.

The Government's introduction of Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions for the whole country from today, for at least 3 weeks, mean that travel outside one's county and outdoor sporting events for more than 15 people are not permitted, so we have no alternative but to cancel.

We plan to reschedule this competition for the Saturday 1st May (the May Bank Holiday weekend), and would like to encourage all those disappointed this year to work hard at improving their dressage so that they and their ponies can come back in even better form in 2021!
