PONY CLUB Dressage

Dressage is the highest expression of training where horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements. it develops obedience, flexibility and balance in the horse, and is therefore the basis for all other equestrian disciplines. The ‘Pure dressage’ competition is for teams of three/four riders of any age, who ride a Novice level test in a 60m long arena.

Irish Pony Club Dressage Team invitation to Royal Windsor Horse Show

A dressage team from the Irish Pony Club (IPC) has been invited to the Royal Windsor Horse Show to compete in their second Home International Team Dressage Competition on Friday 15th May 2020.

The team will be made up of:

  • Two 'Open' riders (UK PC Open Dressage Championship Test 2018, equivalent to Elementary level in Dressage Ireland)
  • Two 'Intermediate' riders (UK PC Intermediate Dressage Championship Test 2014, equivalent to higher level Novice in DI)
  • One 'Novice' rider (UK PC Novice Dressage Championship Test 2017, equivalent to Novice level in DI)

Riders are eligible if they are regularly scoring 68% or more at the level that they will ride in the competition.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to be part of such a fabulous show, but it is a very hectic environment in which to compete, so riders and horses will need to be able to tolerate the noise and activity going on around them.

The entry fee is £40.00, and stabling has been allocated for the IPC horses on site, but candidates should be aware that travel etc. will incur significant costs and that they are responsible for meeting those costs.

If you are interested in being part of this first ever IPC Dressage Team for Windsor, please complete the expression of interest application form on the Irish Pony Club Its Plain Sailing page, with details of dressage scores from recent competitions (IPC, Dressage Ireland, Eventing Ireland).  The closing date for members to complete this form will be Wednesday 18th March 2020 at 12 noon.
