Launch of Mackey Sponsorship of the 2018 IPC Show Jumping Classic
The Irish Pony Club is delighted to announce that Mackey will sponsor the Irish Pony Club Show Jumping Classic in 2018.
On Friday 22nd June 2018, Mackey launched their sponsorship of the Irish Pony Club Show Jumping Classic at Mullingar Equestrian Centre with Tom O'Donnell (IPC Chairman of Finance), Sylvester Ryan (IPC Show Jumping Chairman), Lionel Mackey (Mackey) and members of the Westmeath Hunt Branch. The final of the Irish Pony Club Mackey Show Jumping Classic will take place on Sunday 9th September 2018 at Coilóg Equestrian Centre in Naas. The Show Jumping Classic is open to all IPC members who wish to compete with the possibility of competing in Show Jumping at a high level. There are four levels of competition and members are encouraged to take part and move up levels as their ability and skills grow. The four levels are:
- Show Jumping Classic up to 1.20m
- Classic Finder up to 1.10m
- Classic Starter up to 1.00m
- Classic 90 up to 90cm
IPC Members must qualify for the Mackey Show Jumping Classic by competing at one of the five area qualifiers which will take place across the country this summer. The qualifiers are open to all IPC members. Members may compete at any qualifier in any area. The following are the dates for the five Mackey Show Jumping Classic qualifiers:
- Friday 6th July at Cavan Equestrian Centre (Area 7)
- Wednesday 11th July at Barnadown Equestrian Centre (Area 1 and 2)
- Tuesday 21st August at Raheen na Gun, Kilkenny (Area 3, 4 and 5)
- Wednesday 22nd August at Ballinasloe Showgrounds (Area 8 and 9)
- Thursday 23rd August at Tubberbride Equestrian Centre, Sligo (Area 6)
The successful winner of the Show Jumping Classic Final will be awarded a Training Bursary to McKee Barracks. This is a prestigious prize and in 2017 two IPC members, Edel Whyte (Co. Longford Hunt Branch) and Patrick Gleeson (Scarteen Hunt Branch), were awarded the bursary. They visited the Army Equitation School at McKee Barracks during midterm break and received excellent tuition from Lt. Col. Tom Freyne and his colleagues.
