How to Join
Are you interested in becoming a member of the Irish Pony Club?
There are currently 4,500 members in 61 branches throughout Ireland.
Each Branch belongs to an Area and there are 9 different Areas of the Irish Pony Club.
When you you join the Irish Pony Club, you join through a branch in the area you live. You may only belong to one branch, but when you join, you are then a member of the Irish Pony Club as a whole.
The first thing to do is to obtain a Membership Application Form.
Membership Application Form
To get the most out of being a member it is preferable to own your own pony, though it is not general requirement that a child must own a horse/pony in order to join Irish Pony Club and a small percentage of our members do not.
However members should be aware that they may be restricted in the number of Pony Club activities in which they can take part if they don't have the exclusive use of a horse or pony and the means to transport it.
Membership Card
When your membership application has been processed, you will receive a Membership Card. This card must be carried in your Medical Armband for cross country competitions. (See Tack Sheets) You should also bring it along to inter-branch competitions as proof of your membership.
Membership Renewal Form
The above only applies to new members. If you are already a members you must renew your membership annually. Members will receive a Membership Renewal Form from their branch, usually in December. This must be completed and returned along with the annual subscription to whomever is responsible for membership in your branch, usually the Secretary but sometimes the Treasurer. You may not take part in any activities after 1st January unless you have renewed your membership. You should renew early in the year, as it can take a number of weeks to get your Membership Card. You will need this for Pony Club Hunter Trials which take place in the Springtime.
Branch Transfer
You can only be a member of one branch of the Irish Pony Club. If a member wishes to transfer from one branch to another, they must get written approval from the D.C's of both clubs, as well as permission from the Area Representative.
