IPC Show Jumping Classic Winners avail of their Bursary
Aine Sheehy and Gemma Drennan from The Warrington Branch, who were the winners of the Irish Pony Club Show Jumping Classic 2009 have just had the wonderful experience of a week training in the cradle of Irish Show Jumping, The Army School of Equitation in McKee Barracks in Dublin.
This was a great and complete training week in which not only did they develop their riding skills, but were also involved in taking part with the grooms in stable management lectures. Having had the pleasure of watching their last lesson, I was most impressed.
Aine and Gemma are two great ambassadors for the Irish Pony Club and I wish them well in 2010.

Show Jumping is one of the most popular activities in the Irish Pony Club and is offered at many levels to members.
Show Jumping activities in the Irish Pony Club varies from our youngest members jumping small crosspoles to our senior members jumping 1.20m.
Show jumping will often take place at working rallies as part of the instruction given. Some branches organise special showjumping rallies as well as show jumping training sessions.
Fun competitions like Mini/Midi/Maxi show jumping competitions are often run by branches and are sometimes open to neighbouring branches. Show Jumping is also part of Horse Trials and Combined Training Championships.
The Show Jumping Championships which are held at the IPC Festival are divided into the different competitions:
Each Area of the IPC runs an Area Qualifier to decide which branches will represent their Area at the championships. The teams placed first and second at the qualifier will go on to compete at the Chamionships.
Below is a brief guide to these competitions. The IPC Show Jumping Rule Book should be referred to for more information. See also IPC Guide to Competitions
