Pony Passports

Parents Info

It has been the law in Ireland since 2004 that every pony and horse in the country must possess a passport.  This document must accompany the animal when moved.  This includes travelling with your horse/pony to any Pony Club event or competition.

Your pony's passport also contains a record of vaccinations, which are required for many Pony Club camps and also at venues where ponies are stabled for competitions.

From 1st July 2009, microchipping of equines is compulsory under regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

The Irish Pony Club is no longer an approved passport issuing body.  Members requiring a new passport must now obtain this through Horse Sport Ireland.  The cost is €35.  See link below for HSI website where you can download a Marking Chart which you use to apply for a Horse Passport.
