About Us

The Irish Pony Club is run by an Executive Committee acting on behalf of the
Directors of the IPC.

The Executive Committee of the IPC includes one representative from each Area and the Chairman from each of the Discipline & Advisory Sub Committees. There are also co-opted members from time to time.

Areas

The Irish Pony Club is divided into 9 Areas. (See Map).

Each area has a number of Branches and has an Area Representative who will represent their Branches on the Irish Pony Club Executive Committee.

The Area Representative is elected by the District Commissioners within their Area.

See Areas of the Irish Pony Club

Branches

Each Branch covers a geographical area and is run according to the rules of the Irish Pony Club.

Every Branch is run by a voluntary District Commissioner helped by a voluntary Branch Local Committee. Each Branch organises a full programme of working rallies and other fixtures, which usually take place during school holidays. These include competitions, annual camp, training, outings and social events.

In the summer Inter-Branch competitions/qualifiers are held. These determine who qualifies for Show Jumping, Dressage, Combined Training and Junior and Under 10 Mounted Games competitions held at the Pony Club Festival, which is usually held in late July/early August.

Members are encouraged to develop their riding and stable management skills during their time with the Irish Pony Club. To this end they can work towards certificates awarded by The Irish Pony Club. There are eight graded standards starting with 'D' Test and culminating with the highly regarded 'A' Test taken when a Member reaches their late teens/early twenties. See Pony Club Tests

Members of all ages, but particularly younger members, can broaden their knowledge by working toward gaining Achievement Badges.
